New Table and Chairs

Anyone who has been at my house lately knows that my dining room chairs are falling apart, badly. They were some cheap chairs Tony and I bought right after we got married and we have used them over the past 14 years almost. I got a bonus from work so I decided to look for some new chairs and today we found this set at RC Willey. It was a display set so it has a few small scratches but for 2/3 off I can deal with a small scratch or two. It has 8 chairs and we can put in 3 very large leafs it is nearly 12 feet long with all the leafs in and about 6 feet without them. It is a really dark stain and I love the all wood chairs. Anyhow as you can tell I am excited and happy with what I got!

Oops!

Brayden kicked a ball in the front room and hit a vase that was made by my great aunt who happened to have passed away recently and knocked it to the floor where it broke into several pieces. I was very upset and sad that it was broken and I yelled at Brayden. Then I claned it up and went on with what I was doing. A few minutes later Brayden gave me the note below. What a sweetheart. Then we tried to glue the vace back together. It is still missing a few pieces but it is better then nothing. I am sorry I yelled at him he is a good kid.

Halloween

This year for Halloween the boys wanted to be something scary. So Brayden decided to be the ghost of Caineville (Tony tells ghost of Caineville stories every time we camp there, about a motorcycle rider who died but still rides around Caineville) Owen found a gate keeper costume he liked and for the first time Hannah wasn't a big white chicken she wanted to be a pirate.

Marshmallow

Hannah has been having trouble hearing due to tons of fluid behind her eardrum. We are trying some meds to fix the problem and hopefully she wont need to get tubes put it. The other day when she could hardly hear at all Tony said "Hi beautiful" to her as she walked by. She came up to me with a cute smile and a shy laugh and said "dad just called me marshmallow" So now her nick name is marshmallow. She is so fun. I think the meds she is on is helping so far. Hopefully they will continue to help.

"We are worried about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream."


The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.

We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.
The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better

Place. He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.

Her speech was concise.

She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."

She sat down.

The class went wild. "Yes! Yes!

We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?

She wasn't sure.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.

She didn't know.

The class really didn't care.
All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.


Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.

They want ice cream. The other 48 percent know

They're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."


Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone ---
That they have not first taken away from someone else.

Something to Think About

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a
single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. That class
had insisted that socialism worked; and that no one would be poor and no
one would be rich - a great equalizer. The professor then said ok, we
will have an experiment in this class on socialism.

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same
grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the
first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students
who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were
happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied
little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they
wanted a free ride too; so they studied little.. The second test
average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the
average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all
resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of
anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor
told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the
reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government
takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that....

Bear Grylls Barlow HaHa

We went camping this weekend and had a great time and quite an adventure. On Saturday we went out for a ride and were having a great time and we got quite far from camp. As we were going down a trail we decided to head back because it was almost dinner time and looking like it might soon rain (which we were not dressed for). So we turned around and headed back. A short distance down the road something felt strange so I stopped and found that I had a flat tire on my buggy. We were a long way from camp, at least 10 miles, and we didn't have a way to fill the tire. The rain was really closing down and we decided that we should get the kids out of the rain so Tony took Hannah on his bike and the boys left on theirs. I was left to wait out the rain in my short sleeved shirt. I gathered everything out of my buggy to keep it dry (camera and headlights) and Tony left his body armor to make room for Hannah so I put it on to help keep me warm. I was looking around and decided to make a place to sit down and it soon turned into making a small lean-to to keep me as dry as I could. I moved some rocks and made a small wall, then I put on a Large arched log over the top with lots of small logs leaning up to it. Then I pick a bunch of plants with big leaves and put them all over the top. Just then it started raining so I slid in and waited. The rain came down and down and down. It was quite a down pour. I stayed dry except for a couple of drips. It kept me dry but it was still cold. Soon enough Tony came back in the truck and we filled the tire. Thankfully he brought my coat and I got in the buggy and drove back to camp as fast as I could go. It was raining so hard I could barely see and I was SOAKED when we got back to camp. It took me a couple hours and a really hot shower to get warm but it was actually fun overall.

The next day we went back up the same trail because they kids wanted to see where I had stayed so we took some pictures of them there also.

When we got back to camp they decided to make their own shelter to protect them from the rain also.




It was a great trip.

I have to say Happy Fathers day to my Dad and My kids Dad and Tony's Dad. I am so lucky. Tony is the best Dad. It was so fun to watch him help his boys with their motorcycles, when they fall he is always right there to help them up and make sure they are ok and get them going again. He keeps all our vehicles working and keeps us all happy while out. He is the best!

Hannah was watching her cousin Josh on the internet and she asked where Andrew was. I told her he was home and she asked if she could call him on his self-phone. "What is his self-number?" she asked. I said CELL phone she said "no SELF-phone everyone has a self-phone"

Maybe she is really talking to her cousins and friends when I think she is pretending to, she is using her self-phone.
